Raising Twins
Many of us, when we think about twins, we think, "fun!" Right? Not just once or twice but probably a 1,000 times over I hear people say when they see me with my twins: "oh ! I want twins!"
Well believe me when I tell you, yes it sure is a lot of fun, but it also is a lot of work!
Think about it all you women out there, those of you who had one baby recently (or even a while ago), do you recall how difficult does it get at the 8th, 9th month of pregnancy? Your body hurts, your skin is stretching, you are feeling bloated heavy and tired. Now just imagine, if you reach that stage bearing twins it is at about 5-6 months (imagine what that would feel like at 8-9 months with twins!?!?). This reminds me of how that pregnancy experience was instrumental in the creation of the "SwellyBelly Maternity Belly Band." I promise to write about it later.
If you think that’s bad, think about how difficult it is to keep being awakened at night to feed the your baby at 11pm, then 2am, then 5am. Now, think about, having to do it twice when one is asleep and the other one demands nourishment! to.. just have the 2nd one wake up right after.
Many of you have seen the trendy Hollywood parents of twins, the ones where the media glamorizes there children, and emphasizes the two very CUTE CREATORS: Julia Roberts had Hazel and Phinn November of 2004, Marcia Cross, twin girls, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony just had their twin boy/girl combination. Who can forget the president’s twin girls Barbara and Jenna? And, the upcoming, not even born yet but already famous, Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie’s twins, due this summer.

There is something funny but special about having twins, no matter how many times I walk down the street with my twins, people always laugh! At first I would wonder, do I look funny? Am I growing things on my head, or maybe my twins are growing something on their heads?! When I check, it is NOTHING!
Well, I guess there is something very cute about seeing two similar looking babies! Even though my twins are now toddlers, all the moms who see them together always exclaim "oh they are so cute (and often that’s after my son almost decked her son!?). Fathers on the other hand are not as appreciative, most of them look at me with my twins and seem to literally run the other way, like looking at me and the twins would make him feel twins are contagious!
Maybe twinnes is contagious, but more likely as we know from genetics, it is hereditary, after all I am a twin, my mother is a twin, my mother had two sets of twins, and her father had 3 sets of twinsisters!? Watch out, while I am walking about with my dear twin kiddies, don’t look too long, you just might catch the twin bug. Double your pleasure, double your fun, double your expenses and forget about a normal night’s sleep. Buy stock in Pampers! Get a return on your investment. What about triplets you say? I can’t even imagine it!
