It’s finally here, Gifts for Mom

Filed under: Uncategorized — Nine Moons @ 7:19 am

It’s finally here!!! We are very excited here at Nine Moons to introduce to you our new OPAL necklaces.

I am sure most of you have seen Madona wear the red string around her wrist.  Our Hamsa (the hand) also represents a form of protection rooted in middle Eastern cultures.  The Hamsa is a popular amulet for magical protection from the evil eye (bad luck that results from the attention or jealousy of others).  It is known to draw positive energy, happiness, richness and health.  The Hamsa’s (semitic root meaning five) includes five digits and symbolizes the Creator’s protective hand.

Take a look and we would love to see what you think!

Our Opal Necklaces come in 3 shades, light blue, white and pink.  You also have a choice between sterling silver or filled gold chain.

The twins are here!

Well, just in case you have not gone to the market or have heard the news lately, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had their twins.  How exciting, how much work!

Jolie gave birth to a boy, Knox Leon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarean section. Knox , the boy weighed 5.03 lbs, and Vivienne 5 lbs.  For those of you who had twins, you can imagine how wonderful it probably was for them to hear the weight of these babies as every ounce at this stage is important.

The twins are the fifth and sixth children for Jolie, 33, and partner Brad Pitt ,44, who are already parents to Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.

Angelina Jolie has checked into a hospital in the south of France where she is expected to give birth to her twins, a hospital spokesman said Tuesday.  I have heard that Angelina has said that the babies are due in August.  It has been reported that Angelina will stay at the hospital until her due date in August.  We hope all is well!

She and partner Brad Pitt have four children: Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.

Girls, I will keep you posted on that!

Ashlee Simpson, 23, and husband Pete Wentz confirmed their pregnancy in May shortly after they were married in Beverly Hills.

“This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family,” they said.

Pete recently said he was “excited” to be a dad.

Good luck to them!!!

The SwellyBelly Nursing Cover

Filed under: Uncategorized — Nine Moons @ 6:03 am

Breast feeding or thinking about breast feeding? Here’s an experience I’d like to share with you. Please let me know if you have had similar kinds of realizations.

I was initially the mom of twin preemies. You see, breast feeding twin preemies was a unique experience, and not always a fun one.  First the doctors at the NICU do not let you breast feed a 3.8lb baby.  The babies’ caloric intake was less than the energy they were spending on eating.  So, during this time breast feeding was out of the question.  My pump was my best friend, but the pump was not a baby and my milk supply was low (for which by the way a tea by Mother’s Milk was very useful).  By the time I was allowed to breast feed, my babies were used to the bottle, and were not too interested in the boob, and therefore I pumped most of the time.

When I had my third child, my second boy, I decided that this time I really will enjoy the full experience of breast feeding.  My fantasy was complete with my snazzy nursing cover which I purchased early in the pregnancy because I could not contain myself.  I thought I will be able to breast feed in comfort.  The nursing cover did cover the baby and my breast but my post pregnancy belly and back were still constantly exposed.   I was always adjusting and readjusting myself to stay inside the cover.  I was very frustrated until my husband reminded me that I (and my business partner) created this wonderful item and I should try it.  Funny, but my SwellyBelly was here the whole time and I just did not realize it. And duh!?  It really works well!  After my brilliant husband (he made me say that) made this pointed observation I use the band as I did during my pregnancy, over my belly. Now I need only lift my shirt and just breast feed!  Most of the time I do not even need to use the cover I first purchased, especially in this "hot weather."  Is this the case of not seeing the tree in the forest?

Raising Twins

Filed under: Celebrity Baby news, Uncategorized — Nine Moons @ 10:25 pm

Many of us, when we think  about twins, we think, "fun!" Right?   Not just once or twice but probably a 1,000  times over I  hear people  say when they see me with my twins: "oh ! I want twins!"

Well believe me when I tell you, yes  it sure  is a lot of  fun, but  it  also is a lot of work!

Think about it all you women out there, those of you who had one baby recently (or even a while ago),  do you recall how difficult does it get at the 8th, 9th month of pregnancy?  Your body hurts, your skin is stretching, you are  feeling bloated heavy and tired.   Now  just imagine, if you reach that stage bearing twins it is at about 5-6 months (imagine  what that would feel like at 8-9 months with twins!?!?).  This reminds me of how that pregnancy  experience  was instrumental in the creation of the "SwellyBelly Maternity Belly Band."  I promise to write about it later.

If you think that’s bad, think about how difficult it is to  keep being awakened  at night to feed the your baby  at 11pm, then 2am, then 5am.  Now, think about, having to do it twice when one is asleep and the other one demands nourishment!  to.. just have the 2nd one wake up right after.

Many of you have seen the trendy Hollywood parents of twins, the ones where the media glamorizes there children, and emphasizes the two very CUTE CREATORS: Julia Roberts had Hazel and Phinn November of 2004, Marcia Cross, twin girls, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony just had their twin boy/girl combination.  Who can forget the president’s twin girls Barbara and Jenna?  And, the upcoming, not even born yet but already famous, Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie’s twins, due this summer.

There is something funny  but special about having twins, no matter how many times I walk down the street with my twins, people  always laugh!  At first I would wonder, do I look funny? Am I growing things on my head, or maybe my twins are growing something on their heads?!  When  I check,  it is NOTHING!

Well,  I guess there is something very cute about seeing two  similar looking babies!  Even though my twins are now toddlers, all the moms  who see them together always exclaim "oh they are so cute (and  often that’s after my son almost decked her son!?).  Fathers on the other hand are not as appreciative, most of them look at me with my twins and  seem to literally run the other way, like looking at me and the twins  would make him feel  twins are contagious!

Maybe twinnes is contagious,  but more likely as we know from genetics, it is hereditary,  after all I am a twin, my mother is a twin, my mother had two sets of twins, and her father had 3 sets of twinsisters!?  Watch out,  while I  am walking about with my dear  twin kiddies, don’t look too long, you just might catch the twin bug.  Double your pleasure, double your fun, double your expenses and  forget about a normal night’s sleep.  Buy stock in Pampers!  Get a return on your investment.  What about triplets you say?  I can’t even imagine it!
